The i-MOBYL project officially kicked off with an inspiring two-day meeting at TU Eindhoven, bringing together partners from Austria, the Netherlands, France, Switzerland, and the UK. The University of Salzburg, leading the Austrian consortium, is going to contribute perspectives on how to better understand and support the mobility needs of young adolescents. For this, a trans-national evidence base will be compiled and analysed.

i-MOBYL closes a crucial gap in research and application: despite the long-term influence of mobility habits formed between ages 11 and 15, this group remains largely absent from mobility research and planning. The project aims to change that through co-creative visioning, cross-national data collection, and the development of inclusive, evidence-based interventions. Living Labs in Salzburg, Paris, and Guildford will serve as real-world testbeds for these innovations.
Early activities have already begun, including participatory workshops in a Salzburg school that explored students’ perceptions of safety, greenery, and active mobility. More collaborative work lies ahead as we move from ideas to impactful urban solutions.
