Today, our project got finally started. All consortium members gathered in Salzburg to kick off the research project Bicycle Observatory. Of course, plenty of administrative and organizational questions had to be answered, but the even more important aspect was to get to know each other.

Although our domain backgrounds are very diverse, the fascination for cycling turned out to be common ground. The integrated perspective on cycling mobility from rather different perspectives will characterize this project. New insights will not only emerge from a long term monitoring – in the sense of an observatory – but also from connecting impressions and interpretations across discipline boundaries.
